How many photos are included in the session price?

There is a number of edited photos (usually 20 for full sessions, 10 for half sessions) included in your session price. You will receive a full private online gallery with all the best photos from your session and you can choose the ones that you would like and download them as high-ress files. If there are just too many that you love, you can upgrade your gallery by adding additional downloads

+10 photos for $50

+20 photos for $100

The full gallery with all photos (at least 60) for $150.

Do I need to pay a deposit to book?

After we have found the perfect day and time for your session, I will book you in and send you an invoice via email. To secure your booking you will be required to pay a 20% deposit via bank transfer. The final payment of the remaining 80% is due at the time of your session.

What if the weather isn’t good?

The weather isn’t something that we can control unfortunately and of course it would be perfect if it was always sunny and still, but a few clouds or an overcast sky won’t preclude us taking some stunning photos. Clouds can add drama and an overcast sky can soften the light for some beautiful photos. Rain or strong winds are the only thing that will prevent a photo session from taking place. I am always checking the forecast and will be in touch with you a day or two before your session. If there is a high chance of rain, we may have to reschedule your session to another day.

What should we wear?

Your favourite clothes that you feel comfortable in. I know it’s not that easy and I also totally understand why I get asked this question very often. Generally light and natural colours look nice in photos, but brighter colours can also work if they are not all mixed together. For a group of people, I do advice to colour coordinate a little bit, mainly to make sure that it’s not clashing especially with patterns. Try to avoid small patterns with lots of detail and brand logos. Keep in mind that we usually move around a lot and that you should be able to sit on the ground (on a rug if preferred). I like barefoot on the beach, but that is totally up to you. It can be a good idea to have some spare clothes for the kids in the car in case we get into splashing and kicking in the water at the end of the session which can be lots of fun.
If your session is in the colder months I recommend bringing some jumpers to keep warm when the sun is down. Knits add texture and look super cute. Making sure that kids aren't cold is important to keep them happy.

I do have a few dresses that you can be used for maternity sessions and I will send you more information on this if you book a maternity session with me. Please reach out if you are interested.

Glasses and Sunglasses on or off?

We are shooting during “Golden Hour” with the sun mostly behind you meaning that you don’t need to look into the sun. Sunglasses are best left in the car.

Glasses are of course different as you may need them to see where you are going but they can cause reflections which I will always try to avoid but I may ask you to take your glasses off for a few photos.

Prescription sunglasses or glasses that turn dark in the sun are best to avoid during a session.

What to expect from a photo session with children?

My goal is not only to capture beautiful photos that you will cherish for a long time but also a relaxed and fun experience. I want the kids to come out of the session with a big smile and a happy memory. At the beginning of the session, we will always try to get the “shots for grandma” where everyone is looking at the camera, different combinations of people and a close-up portrait of each of the kids. But once we have those, I want you to just have fun and capture the character of the family. We can try running, throwing children in the air, tickles and if it is something you would be up to then splashes in the water can round out a session nicely. The more relaxed environment is perfect for capturing those precious moments and kids smiles, sometimes when you least expect them.

When and how will we receive our photos?

Everybody is excited to see the final photos and even though editing takes time, I do try to get your photos to you as soon as possible. My usual turn-around between session and the delivery of the full gallery is 1-3 weeks but not later than 4 weeks.

You will receive a link via email to your private online gallery, from here you can view and download your photos as often as you like, and you can also share the link with family and friends if you like.

Can we book a session that is not during “Golden Hour”?

The light at the time of your session is VERY important for my approach and the look that I shoot. All the photos in my portfolio are from sessions during “Golden Hour”. As a mum I understand that this may not be the ideal time for your little ones, and it will be delaying dinner or bedtime. But for that one night of the year trust me it will be worth it. There are also sunrises that can be a great alternative, especially in March when sunrise is quite late. Alternatively, a sunset session during winter will be a lot earlier than in summer.

We can of course try to shoot a bit earlier before sunset, BUT the photos will look very different to the ones in my portfolio.
